Gay Anna Santerre

Ms. Santerre is an educator, artist, pianist, composer and opera singer.  Her family musical background and her journey as a muscician in both piano and opera provide her with rich experiences to share with people of all ages.  Ms. Santerre attended Shoreline Community College and receivd an Associate of Arts and Sciences degree and continued her education at the University of Puget Sound where she earned a scholarship in both piano and voice.  She graduated with Honors with a Bachelor of Music degree in vocal performance.

Ms. Santerre's professional experience includes performing as a soloist and opera singer for such companies as Seattle Opera, Tacoma Opera, Sacramento and San Diego Opera, Washington East Opera, Opera Idaho, and Northwest Opera in the Schools.  She has also performed as a soloist with the Walla Walla Symphony, the Seattle Choral Company, the Bellingham Music Festival, the New Britain Symphony, and the Seattle Bach Choir.

In 1992 Gay Anna Santerre became a finalist in the regional Metropolitan Opera auditions as well as a winner in the Bel Canto Foundations of Chicago's national opera auditions.  From 2003-2008 Ms. Santerre was the accompanist and vocal coach for the Cascade Foothills Chorale.  In 2012 she was the recipient of a teacher's enrichment grant from the Music Teachers National Association.  Ms Santerre is the 2014-15 Commissioned Composer of the Year for the Washington State Music Teachers Association.  She has taught private voice and piano out of her home studio since 2002 and has also taught at Pierce College in their continuing education program.

When she isn't making music, Ms. Santerre trains her dogs for agility, trains and rides horses, makes jewelry, raises organic eggs and produce, and tries very unsuccessfully not to do too much.
